Haus Köppe

Habichtsfang 9b
Built:
1928
Architect:
Richard Schmieder
This two-storey house is an exquisite example of residential ‘New Building’ in Halle. Designed by architect Richard Schmieder, the asymmetrical stucco building was inspired by the Bauhaus architecture of Dessau. The ground plan is relatively simple; the cube-shaped house is built on a brick plinth. A quarter-circle bay, a loggia and a corner window give the house a distinctive appearance. The dynamic and expressive character of the building and the economic layout of its rooms put Haus Köppe clearly in the tradition of 1920s Modernist architecture.
