Residential building

Heinrich-Heine-Straße 6
Built:
1929/30
Architect:
Julius Kallmeyer, Wilhelm Facilides
This two-storey house on a corner of Heinrich-Heine-Straße is remarkable for the equilibrium of its dimensions. The stucco building designed by Kallmeyer & Facilides, is topped by an attic floor and finished with a flat roof. The semi-circular brick staircase tower contrasts with the unadorned façade and is complemented on the garden side of the house by a slightly off-centre cylindrical conservatory, which further enhances the felicity of the design. An enclosure with a stepped brick wall lends the architecture an individual touch. The house is an excellent example of ‘New Building’ in the upmarket residential architecture of Halle.
