The substation on Universit\u00e4tsring is one of Halle\u2019s smaller substations. It was built in the late 1920s, during the expansion of the power grid.<\/p>\n

The flat-roofed building is situated at a crossroads which has something of the character of a square. Head of municipal planning Wilhelm Jost built it set back a little way to the east, sideways on to Universit\u00e4tsring where it is clearly and impressively visible.<\/p>\n

The substation is built in brick and faced with bands of limestone in various widths and colours.<\/p>\n

Originally, the substation also housed public lavatories, a first-aid post, a kiosk and a telephone booth.
